The reason I have not been posting is… well, I’ve been out of touch with the kinds of things I normally wish to write about. Much of this has to do with some upheavals with kith and kin, as well as a particularly sparkly piece of female flesh that has, for some insane or nefarious reason, felt given to grace me with her considerable attentions.
Even so, it isn’t like I’ve been given to absolute humdrumery. I’ve seen blood and boobies incarnated(for your delight) as the painfully banal series Sparticus. Yes… it is drivel. I loath it as a priest loathes the idea of Alter Girls… in somewhat of a confusion of what to do with it, and would rather it just go away so as to provide more clarity of purpose. Even so, in the first episode there’s this Roman wife who comes a visiting her man…drops her robe and HELLO… full frontal nudity with proud betty. I am a man of many words… but the one that seems fitting in this case is “Good”. Brevity is the soul of wit.
Oh, I did see Avatar… and have a few thoughts on it that… if you tape it with a pic of a blue chick, it might even be considered a review of sorts.
Ready? Here we go… “Meh”.
Look, the 3D effects were what they were… but the story and characters were completely forgettable. One of the marks of a good genre flick is a memorable line. “There is no spoon”, “The needs of the may outweigh the needs of the few…or the one”, “…lost, like tears in the rain. Time to die.”, ” You are part of the rebel alliance and a traitor. Take her away!”, “Nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure”, “I’ll be back” … etc… Can you name even one memorable quote from Avatar? Hey, it was an entertaining way to kill a few hours. But, it will be forgotten in a year.
I also saw Twilight Full Moon… and specifically to trash it unmerciful. No really, I have all this burning madness to unleash on this film… and I saw it just to do so and entertain YOU, my dear readers.
HOWEVER, there is a particularly sparkly piece of female flesh that has found the Twilight movies worthy. Moreover, she finds my rather… enthusiastic…yes, that’s the word… determination to utterly destroy them as, well… kind of a slam on the tastes of the people that find the movies worthy.*GASP!*
As you can see, this puts me at a morally difficult place. You see, I have to choose between my natural and God Sanctified joy in crushing wussy vampire media for my readers… and having the privilege of being pounced on by She Who Must Be Obeyed.
I am many things, but a fool is not one of them.
So, my review of Full Moon, as well as my revised review of Twilight, is as follows:
Bella yearns for her deep and fulfilling love with Edward, which shows she is emotionally mature and full of her feminine power to pursue her destiny without fear. Edward struggles to come to terms with his passionate desire for an eternal love with Bella. I totally understand that profound and glorious feeling, but I’m not stupid enough to LEAVE my woman, like Edward. I would totally stay and work it out, keep her safe from the Horrors of the world… then buy her presents.
The End.
P.S.: Totally worth it.
What!? You haven’t seen Supernatural?! Christ, are you living in a f**king cave?!
I am a big time genre TV fan. B5, Trek(s), BSG, XFiles, Smallville, Heroes, TrueBlood, Terminator and all things Whedon flows through my veins.
So, how did I miss Supernatural?
*sigh* I can only blame Smallville.
See, I have a love/hate thing with that show. I love the idea, but HATE 90% of the implementation. That 90% is pure WB/CW formula teen drama pap. And when I saw another genre show coming out of CW, I immediate thought “here we go again” and passed on what I thought was going to be a cheap knock off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
As seasons moved by, I noted that the show continued and never really got what I would call “bad” press from those places where reviews matter to me. Even so, I figured that if I am missing something, I am likely not missing much. Six months ago, an eFriend started pushing me toward checking out the show as something “I think you will like”. After much nagging on his part(and a fair bit of forgetfulness on mine), I put the show in my list of things to watch and finally got around to viewing it with SheGan.(who likes “creepy” stuff…me included, I assume)
After the first episode, I was blown away!
Seriously…it was probably the best pilot to a series I’ve seen since Lost. I was immediately hooked on the characters and meta-story… and couldn’t wait to see the next episodes. I was shocked something this good could have strolled out without huge fanfare…at least in the Geekly quarters. But here it was and I dedicated myself to watching as many episodes as I had time in the week.
I’ve recently caught up to the finale of season 4 and now I want to talk about it a bit.
Ensign Picard Is Stabbed In The Heart
So I was surfing the channels, and what do I find? Star Trek: The Next Generation. But what is more then just finding an episode of that classic series, is finding one that is a favorite of mine: Tapestry.
“There are many parts of my youth that I’m not proud of… there were loose threads… untidy parts of me that I would like to remove. But when I pulled on one of those threads… it had unraveled the tapestry of my life.”

- Picard to Riker

The episode Tapestry is the 140th installment of ST:TNG, and is the 255th release of 726 total Star Trek Television Shows. It is one of the episodes featuring the always intriguing Q.
The episode begins with Capt. Picard dying on the operating table from a phaser blast to the chest. When Picard dies he finds that Q is God.
